Vids and More
Here's a page showing some adorable and interesting videos on amazing animals. I'll also post cool articles on cuties and some other stuff. (Yea, stuff isn't a very good word, but it describes what will probably be put on this page.)
This is the first vid I'm posting. It's kinda gross, but very squee, and it's actually really hilarious. Hope everyone enjoys!
I love this video- it's really cool. That octopus must have been a snail in his or her past life!
That's one brave frog, and one generous turtle! Sorry I took off the hedgehogs, but it wouldn't play. :(
This charming little vid made me melt. It happened in China (actually a few years ago). But it is sooo sweet.
That is too kawaii! The duck is so happy for getting bread he does a celebratory jig! I'm probably wrong, but it's cool.
WHAAA?! I don't know how exactly the kitten got there, but this clip just amuses me! Also, check out PetTube!
This adorable dog is entertaining himself in the weirdest way I've ever seen. Squee FTW!
This made me cry. Not only do people in Japan need to be helped, but so do animals. We need to do something!
BunBun~!!! Easter is in 5 days, so before I forget, let's celebrate with a tiny rabbit. Desu yo<33
Happy belated birthday Maru the cat~!! He is a Japanese cat who is a ScottishFold. Utterly kawaii (=^;^=)
Meet Naki'o, the first dog ever to have working prothetic paws. He can jump, run, and swim. An amazing and happy story desu~!!
This is an old YouTube video, but a good one. The bunny, Toto, really can cut presisely!! :)
ZOMG!! Long time no video. The 8th Puppy Bowl is tomorrow and I'm so excited. Watch this kawaii clip to see the new changes they've made.
Animal Rights
Here's the "more'' mentioned in the title. Here I'll discuss animal rights some more- why animals shouldn't be eaten, the debate over whether or not they feel pain (they most definetly do), and other important situations and controversy. I'll also be posting animal articles- whether it's about baby pandas being born or extreme animal cruelty being filmed at a slaughterhouse. This section may seem a bit scary- and it probably will be, but that's just the way things are. This is dedicated to changing it! ;)
Why Animal Rights Matter- McCruelty and PETA
Every animal has feelings. Although creatures are always being tortured, many good people are trying to put an end to it. There is a site- mccruelty.com, that discusses how McDonald's is abusing chickens, using an inhumane process to kill them in their slaughterhouses. Birds are scalded to death in hot water, and many have their throats slit while they're still concious!! These gentle animals don't and never will deserve this. According to McCruelty, there is a "less cruel method of slaughter", but I think that's kind of an oxymoron. Slaughtering already is cruel! I say, become a vegetarian or vegan. (More information on this is on the How To Help Save Animals page.) Although this is an awesome site, it's kinda, um, gory. Meaning, it shows pics of chicken corpses and videos of animals being killed violently. But by doing this it definetly makes a strong point, and I admire its creators for that.
In happier news, I found another site, one that is probably more well-known than McCruelty. It's peta.org. This fantastic organization focuses on every aspect of animal cruelty. There are videos and comments from celebrities encouraging others to adopt, not purchase, pets and to go veggie. Plus their gift shop is great. I love the tee with a cartoon chick on it that reads "I am not a nugget!" Please spend some time looking through it and consider whether it's really worth it to eat meat, wear fur, or buy animals when so many others are suffering.
Animal Testing- WHY?!?!
Hey again! I have some news, though it's not very good. Almost nothing on this page will be. But here it is. I found out that at the University of Texas (and countless other factories and labs across the world), animals are used as experiments. They are neglected, mulitated, tortured, and burned. Seriously. Over 100 million animals are tested on with products every year. And this isn't counting the mice, rats, and birds- the animals most often tortured by being tested on.
These animals are cut open. They are forced to inhale toxic fumes. They are force-fed pesticides and drugs and have chemicals rubbed on their skin and fur. They are poisoned and blinded and killed by the huge corporations that give you your shampoo and perfume and iced tea.
You really want adorable animals to suffer or die an early, violent death just so you can smell like Chanel No. 5? If that sounds like you, then you are totally sick. Find some perfume that doesn't exterminate any species. Go to PETA's site (link above) for more info on this and how to stop it for good. This site was greatly influenced by organizations like PETA so please visit and prevent!
UPDATE: I'm not going to delete anything I've written up here.... because I think it's well-written and I'm still proud of it. :)
However, I need to correct myself. In emergencies, animal testing has to be done sometimes. It can save the lives of humans and other animals as well. I'm definetely not denying that the lives of the animals being tested on isn't important either, but sometimes animal testing must be done. Fore more info, go to the bottom of the page.
Bunny Butcher
Salutations, readers of Cute and Interesting Animals. I discussed the obvious cruelty behind weaing fur, skin, leather, and even wool on the How To Save Animals page. But there's more. You probably have heard of Donna Karan, famous fashion designer. If wearing a few bunny corpses on a cold winter day is appealing to you, then by all means go ahead and wear Donna Karan. Yep, DKNY uses fur. From adorable little bunnies.
Hopefully wearing a carcass is the opposite of what you would like to wear. Please boycott wearing animal products on anything, whether it's designer or not. Too many clothes include animal items. And believe me, no one wants to hear about the fur trade going on. It's even worse than this, and it might be too atrocious too put on this site. Write to these companies or their executives telling them how it's wrong to slaughter animals just to put together tacky vests. Everyone's opinion counts, and together, if everyone speaks up against animal cruelty, we can change the world!
Awesome Wildlife Center
Hey, I just found out about an amazing sanctuary for animals- the Fund For Animals Wildlife Center. It's in Ramona, California, and it takes care of animals of all kinds- from wild to household. Most of the animals being taken care of have been abandoned or injured, and they are all in good hands. Most of the animals also don't stay at the wildlife center. Once they are healed, they're released back into the wild (this is just for wild animals.) The Fund For Animals Wildlife Center is not a zoo- instead, it's a place where animals are actually treated with kindness and respect. Just wanted to inform everyone of this great place! :)
Spay Day!!
Everyone, Spay Day is in 2 days!! I'm writing this now before I forget and it's actually Spay Day and I don't post anything. Still, the point is, follow this great day sponsored by the Humane Society. (More info on the blog.) Spaying or neutering (also called "fixing"), is one of the best things you can do for your dog or cat. It prevents unwanted baby animals being born, because chances are, if your pet gives birth, it'll be hard to find homes for the puppies or kittens. This also prevents more and more animals from being dumped in shelters and never finding a good home. Fixing is also just healthier. And, although many people say spaying and neutering is cruel, it really isn't! Getting your dog or cat fixed is a quick, painless process. It's simple and easy, inexpensive, and your pet will be so much healthier! Get your pet fixed soon, and support the Humane Society!
Seal Slaughter :(
Unfortunately, the Canada seal slaughter has begun. Soon THOUSANDS of adorable innocent seals will be killed and then skinned. Sealers literally drag baby seals across the ice and mangle them, sometimes while they are still concious. Why sit around while seals are tortured just for the fur trade when we can do something?
Please, please, please, PLEASE visit Peta's site (link above the picture of the baby chick), click on the seal slaughter link, and please write a letter to Canada's prime minister and other abassadors. Why would anyone want to see a six-week- old seal slaughtered? Plus, seal skinning absolutely DOES NOT affect Canada's (more specifically, Newfoundland's) economy- it takes up 1% of it, if not less. So these precious, beautiful mammals are being killed for no reason!!!! I'm urging everyone to take action and send a letter to help stop seals from being slaughtered!
Animal Testing Corrections
Hello<33
I apologize, I haven't been posting here as much as I would like to. Or, really, at all. Sorry!! The topic I'm going to be focusing on is animal testing . I know I've already emphasized this, but I need to make some corrections.
A while ago on this page, I wrote about animal testing and how it's wrong. I still agree with that, but I have to admit that in some drastic cases, it's neccessary. Of course, the pain creatures endure in this is horrible, but some people harm animals MORE in this case. Some like to see creatures suffer, which is sick.
I'm not denying that animal testing is gross, because it might have to be done. But what bothers me the most is that people make the pain worse than it needs to be when they're testing. This disturbs me!! Animals don't deserve to be tortured even more. So, above, I've corrected myself. Animal testing is awful, but again, it needs to be done sometimes for medicine and emergencies. Look above for what I wrote~!!!
Wintertime and Holidays
Hi people!! Haven't updated... er... anywhere on Cute and Interesting Animals for a while. *Sheepish face* ANYWAY, it's wintertime now and it's super freezing! PETA has been encouraging dog owners to keep their dogs inside during the winter months. I agree with this because, as it turns out, so many poor dogs get ill from being left outside in the cold.
They can develop hypothermia, infections, and other illnesses. So if your dog has a doghouse, please don't use it for the next couple of months. Don't you want your puppy to be nice and toasty warm anyway desu?
P.S. For little dogs, those doggy sweaters and boots are awesome and hilarious. I kinda think they're stupid, but they do keep the dog warm!
PETA Kills the Animals they "Save"?
Hi fellow readers. (I know... derpy intro -__-) So there has been information popping up (namely on YouTube) about how the animal organization PETA has been euthanizing 95% of the animals they take in to their shelters. But the worst part of this rumor? Apparently PETA does this within less than 24 hours of the animal coming to the shelter.
I'm going to be honest, I really don't know if this is true or not. But sadly, it sounds kind of realistic, doesn't it?
Look, I'm actually still not sure what to do about this. I'm starting to think PETA may not be trustworthy, even though sponsors denied the euthanizing. I'm not going to lie. I actually requested by email to stop getting any more messages and newsletters from PETA. Quite a while ago I signed up to hear their news, but becuase I'm freaked by the rumor, I decided to unsubscribe.
This was my own choice, and I'm totally not saying PETA is now a horrible charity that cannot be trusted, but I think I'm gonna focus on some other animal charities on this site from now on.
